KKBB’s co-owners have always known what they’ve wanted and haven’t been afraid to go after it. Tanya, a nationally sought-after stylist and entrepreneur, and her punk-rock partner ‘Cheez’ Brown—a Hoosier native with a long list of music and fashion industry credentials—built a brand that has garnered much attention. In studio with our designers, we meticulously mapped out people and product flow to translate their vision into a new, 1,800 square-foot salon.
Overview
One of the top-performing salons in the nation, KKBB knows their work isn’t just about how their clients look–it’s about how they feel. When their current space began to limit their ability to choregraph this experience, they partnered with DELV to design a new one.

First Impressions
The sleek lounge cues the first step in the clients’ experience sequence. Minimalist design allows the colorful product to take center stage and an expansive glass feature wall creates a visual threshold while offering clients a peek behind the scenes.

All in the Details
Anticipating every step with surgical-like precision, the layout maximizes stylists’ time spent with their clients. Custom casework puts specialty tools at their fingertips while a custom-designed ‘S’-curve bench provides a comfortable spot for processing, yet still in proximity for conversation.

Zones with Purpose
Distinct zones for each step of the experience ensures the client feels pampered for the entire visit. Unique wall-mounted dryers were used to maximize square footage.

Exhibition-Style Mixing
With a highly active space, the design enables a dedicated zone for color storage and mixing; putting this skilled process on display.

Setting the Tone
Amongst the high energy atmosphere of the salon is a zone designed to usher clients into a calmer, quieter space–fully relaxing into their transformative experience. Moody lighting paired with the washing stations’ rich textures offer a few moments of respite.
